The cylindricity of a lens holder in many optical instruments and metrology measuring instruments is crucial, as it directly impacts alignment, stability, and overall system performance.
Recently, we’ve seen a growing demand for components with a cylindricity requirement of 0.005mm and below, from customers in these industries. To meet this need, we upgraded our boring capability with a high-precision boring bar from BIG DAISHOWA-Europe—and put it to the test.
Snapshot of the Test & Results
✅ Material: Aluminium 6061
✅ Machining: ⌀50mm hole, 60mm depth on Okuma MB46 (3-axis CNC milling machine)
✅ Results: Cylindricity: 0.003mm . Surface Finish: Ra 0.3
We successfully achieved a cylindricity of 0.003mm, surpassing our customers’ requirements.
