Makino a500Z simultaneous 5-axis CNC milling machine with horizontal spindle can handle complex geometries and tight tolerances. The circular feature on this part required a high level of precision machining and accuracy to meet the angularity control requirement.
A custom work holding jigs was fabricated to hold the part precisely, to allow a specific angle rotation, and to align with the machine’s coordinate system, without interfering with the tool path. The machining strategy also involves the usage of Seco Tools ballnose endmill to create the circular profile.
